William Miller - A Freemason?

It turns out that William Miller, the main man behind the movement which resulted in the eventual formation of the Seventh-day Adventists and the Jehovah's Witnesses, was a Freemason. (Read the research article by an Adventist.)

As a Mormon, this interests me (Joseph Smith Jr. and Brigham Young not to mention multitudes of other early LDS leaders having been Masons as well)

New York, Burned Over District, 1820's-30's. 1844. Freemasonry. Prophecy. Belief in continuing revelation. And, a distinctive decline in splendor as soon as there is no Master Mason remaining in leadership.

What is the root of this big correlation? Is it a coincidence? Was there something in the air in those years, Masonically? What inspired these great men and Masons to their larger than life tasks?

Was there an unusual traveling magnetic field passing by in upstate New York in the 1820's? Quite frankly, I wouldn't mind tapping into a little of that juice myself.

The sad thing is, the successive generations of these individuals have largely taken for granted what their founders have provided. Their teachings and instruction are given lip service and perused occasionally, but they aren't recognized for what they were. Aside from the Theology and Eschatology (you might wonder what is left, with these individuals -- I assure you, plenty) it might be worthwhile for the Fraternity to lay their claim on these treasure troves of "living stone" examples and their fruits and writings, that have been abandoned by everyone else. As far as I'm concerned, they are among the best men Masonry has ever made better. If any Masons have ever changed the world, these men have. And I hope it was for the better.

i use to laugh at all the theories running the internet about masons, people who have never stepped foot in a masonic stated meeting telling ppl all over the net how masons are of the devil, and the n.w.o. and how famous ppl are in the closet as masons WHATEVER any member will tell you if he is a mason or not except obama but thats a whole other story that has nothing to do with masonary or prince hall masons. stop telling ppl that dont know any better your crap if you have questions ask a mason i would be glad to tell you . you would be suprised about all what i can tell you and what i cant is done out of tridition if i was to tell you , you would be dissappointed . i am a 32 degree mason it did not take years to get this degree it took 6 mo. because i had to wait for the scottish rite to put on thier day and a half degree which is putting on plays and let me tell you , i fell asleep through half of it. so what if these people are our were masons its a personal growth thing period ! or so someone can act like it all secret and knowing which its not.

The apostle Paul was a persecutor of Christians, but when he met the Man called Jesus he changed his ways and those things that he believed in and became a follower of Jesus even up to his death. William Miller turned his back on Freemasonry when he too found Jesus, it was not only lip service but he wrote his resignation letter. I too know something about freemasonry so please to listen to the crap that anonymous wrote. These man made (I should say Satanic made)secret societies would all come tumbling down in the near future. May God expose all your secrets. Accept Jesus before it is too late.

AMEN anonymous! Even king David lied, stole, cheated!! He who is free of sin cast the first stone! If in fact William Miller was a mason at one point, just like the apostle Paul, king David and each of us, as bad as we may be, as evil as we could have been, we can be changed and transformed into something new because "ALL things are possible through Christ who strengthens me"... Ellen G. White wrote:
The enemy has made his masterly efforts to unsettle the faith of our own people in the Testimonies.... It is Satan’s plan to weaken the faith of God’s people in the Testimonies. Next follows skepticism in regard to the vital points of our faith, the pillars of our position, then doubt as to the Holy Scriptures, and then the downward march to perdition. When the Testimonies, which were once believed, are doubted and given up... -- (From Selected Messages 3:83 (1890). {LDE 178.1} & Testimonies for the Church 4:211. {LDE 178.2})

So it obviously discourages or even confuses someone who just learns about William's freemason past, but that is exactly the plan. Stand up and keep marching Christian!

Don't be a troll. Even the name Ellen G. White shows how William Miller used a method of hiding things in plain site. Along with the writings of Ellen G. White and the lithograph displayed in Loma Linda University which is clearly Masonic. How many times does Ellen Govld VVhite mention the "Great Architect" and "The all seeing eye"? Two phrases not at all written in the Bible except through code in verses such as Psalm 139:15.
the usage and practice is of allegory and symbol is a Mason's duty. Are you beyond the steps of an initiate?

Bulk Texting has turned into a worldwide marvel because of its compass. To such an extent that a huge number of organizations worldwide have coordinated it with their database to send boundless messages like advancements or warnings for quick trade of data.

Consumers have evolved and are now looking to get as much information as they can regarding products and services. This has led to the rise of 2 Way SMS which has become the go to channel for 2-Way communication between consumers and businesses.
